Gina Marie Buccolo
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
Certified Lactation Educator Counselor (CLEC)
Gina is a hospital based lactation consultant, a mother, a writer, and a passionate advocate for babies and families. Gina used to be an engineer in the defense industry. After becoming completely disillusioned with her work, Gina left the field of engineering for a new career in maternal-child health. Gina has three children (ages 9, 6, and 4) who were all breastfed. She has experienced her fair share of nursing challenges and can honestly relate to what it is like to experience sore nipples, plugged ducts, mastitis, and balancing working, pumping, and breastfeeding.
Gina has worked in private practice (seeing patients in their homes), in the outpatient clinic of a busy medical center, and as an inpatient lactation consultant in two hospitals.
Gina has specialized experience in:
*Breastfeeding in the early days: helping parents understand newborn behavior and transitioning to a successful nursing relationship.
*Helping mothers make the transition back to work/school while continuing breastfeeding.
*Working with mothers with auto-immune conditions (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc.).
*Comfortable with and experienced in with working with LGBTQ families including those wishing to induce lactation.
